Artist Beats Addiction by Making Stunning Street Art (20 Pics)

Jamie Paul Scanlon, also known as JPS, is a British artist living in Germany who has left his mark on public buildings and walls throughout England and Norway. The street artist is well-known for his distinct style and ability to bring objects to life.

Jamie learned to draw from his father, who spent a long time in prison and died when he was 18 years old. The artist pursued his passion for arts and went on to study graphic design in college after high school but was unable to complete the degree because he could no longer afford to go to college. He later worked as a shoe repairer and critical cutter.

That's when Jamie's life took a turn for the worse. A series of unfortunate events, including the murders of two close friends, set him on a twelve-year drug and alcohol abuse path. Fortunately, Jamie's fortunes improved in 2009 when a friend took him to see a Banksy museum exhibition. "I was intrigued by using full-size stencils on walls." It planted the seed for me to confront my addictions, and I began self-teaching and hitting walls," the artist explained. Please scroll down to see examples of his work.
